Rondo Screwfix metal battens are New Zealand's premium brand of metal battens for gib ceilings. The battens are designed and made right here in New Zealand with engineers on hand to help with seismic compliance of your ceiling systems. Some people incorrectly refer to this product as Rondo battens which is the Australian equivalent.
Metal battens are commonly used to install gib ceilings on because the clips are individually levelled producing a seamlessly smooth gib ceiling finish which is much less susceptible to cracking and defects. 2 lengths of clips are available in addition to extra components which can suspend the entire system.
The system comprises of a perimeter angle or channel which is installed first. Clips are then fixed to joists to accommodate the furring channels. Furring channels are twisted into the clips at 450mm centres for 10mm gib and 600mm centres for 13mm gib. For other ceiling linings please consult the lining manufacturer for fixing detail.
The beauty of these battens is that you require less timber, thereby saving you money but also you can easily create the perfect cavity for your insulation and cavity in skillion type roofs.
